"Managing at home"

About: St Lukes Hospice

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Since I was discharged from St Luke's Hospice I have been coping much better than I thought I would at home.  Although it is good to be at home, I miss the daily interactions I had [with all the staff], especially the banter, the scrabble, doing the jigsaw and of course all the care I received.  I didn't think such individual care, performed with such warmth and compassion still existed within our system.  It is comforting to know that it does.

Despite being in lockdown, I am filling my days with plenty of reading, listening to music, engaging with people on social media and the telephone.  I am also trying my hand at some creative writing.  All in all, despite my health limitations, I am pretty content.

Thank you all once again for all your care and kindness during my stay with you.

Dear Marpm83

Thank you for your kind feedback, we are happy to learn that you are managing at home. This we acknowledge can be a very difficult time especially in the current climate. The staff here enjoyed our daily game of scrabble with you even if it meant you won most games. Our volunteer also enjoy her visits with you playing various games.

He wish you all the best and hope you continue to enjoy these activities in the comfort of your home.

Kindest regards
