I had my baby 2 weeks before lockdown. She arrived in the early hours of the one day early march following a tricky labour. It was a very busy night on labour ward with lots of births and I was whizzed out of labour ward to the post natal ward quickly to allow for another woman to come in. The midwife who was with me for my birth was exceptional. She was called Natasha and I think she had been moved from a different ward to help support the busy shift. The experience was very different from my previous 2 births on bracken but she made the effort to help me stay as mobile as possible despite needing to be on the monitor. I did the majority of the labour on my own but she was constantly popping in to check on me and she went above and beyond to help me deliver - she even missed her break! I had a number of midwives/doctors in the room as things got a bit challenging towards the end but they were all fantastic.
I would also like to comment on the excellent care I received from the infant feeding team - I managed to feed for 6 months thanks to them (I was ready to quit on day 3!) And in particular Isla the support worker who was such a calm and caring presence to be around when I was in a state and needed her help with pumping.
