Victoria Hospital (Kirkcaldy) Ward 31. Having never had the need to stay on a ward, it was a surprise to me when I broke my hip and was admitted to ward 31. As a 48 year old, something like broken hip wasn’t on my radar. Having been admitted in the early hours of the morning the first person I met was senior nurse Nicola (Base 3), and I was made to feel so welcome and Nicola and her great team help put me at ease. The following morning, I had my surgery and again what a brilliant team. From the Porter Kenny to the guys in Anaesthetists and the surgeons along with everyone else helping the operation. Once back on the ward, I got to meet some of the day team (base 3). Again they all made me feel more and more at ease. Nurse Emily was fantastic throughout my stay, she always had time to help answer any question I had along with a great attitude to helping others something that nursing is all about. Hospital makes everyone worried, but when a hospital has people like Senior nurse Nicola and nurse Emily on their wards it makes a huge difference. Ward 31 physio department was brilliant at helping me get back on my feet.
