"Prescription cuts"

About: NHS Sheffield CCG Sloan Medical Centre

(as the patient),

Quite shocked that the STOP list included basic things like hayfever stuff. I don't think that they listened to my feedback on the consultation. I cannot afford the medication in the summer every week. This really is more about the CCG decisions that affect what GP's can do.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Firstly I would like to apologise for the delay in responding to your post. I am sorry to hear that the STOP list will effect you in the upcoming summer months.

I thought it would be beneficial to explain why hay fever medication was included in the STOP list:

The Sheffield STOP list reflects NHS England, NHS Improvement and NHS Clinical Commissioners guidance.

Feedback was considered both locally and nationally in order to support informed decision making around appropriate use of prescribing resources.

The CCG has a responsibility to ensure that limited prescribing resources are used for maximum benefit and hay fever products are readily available over the counter.

Where individuals can utilise opportunities for self-care it helps reduce waste and preserves the effectiveness of NHS resources.

I hope this helps to understand why hay fever products was included in the STOP list.

Kind Regards,
