Following the removal of a mole in August at Forth Valley where I had a positive experience, I attended the Dermatology section at the hospital in Stirling. The only negative in my experience was the poor signage for the actual unit as you arrive down a glass corridor and a fire door.
Upon arrival I was met by Kenny who I had spoken to earlier that day on the phone. He made sure all patients observed the social distancing whilst keeping the reception desk clear. I then had an appointment with Dr Sinclair who explained that they had uncovered a very small amount of Stage 1 Melanoma. The Dr was very reassuring and wanted to take away a further local excision to ensure it was all removed. Having spoken to her colleague, David, I was able to have the surgery that afternoon.
David, who performed the surgery at the Forth Valley, was again in good form, despite having been on an admin afternoon, he was now onto his 5th surgery and supporting patients very well. David was supported by the fantastic Lesley who spoke to me and gave me moral support to keep my mind off the needles and excision happening on my arm. The wound has healed well and I was informed by Sandra most recently that all came back clear and I will require a follow up appointment which has arrived.
A fantastic team effort from reception to result and showed how well everyone in the department is working for each other as well as the patients. Thank you for your work.
