"A good day at East Surrey Hospital"

On entering the building we see that things have improved recently at ESH. It has been spruced up in places and looked brighter and cleaner even when approached by the East entrance.

When we looked a bit confused a member of staff sprang to our aid and all day long everyone was pleasant, kind and helpful.

Due to a trip to the nuclear department we were in the building for many hours which gave us time to try the new WHSmith, Costa and Boots. Again we were very happy with the service and friendliness of the staff.

My mum had a migraine and I needed a wheel chair - again this was easy to locate and use. One of the staff said that the new CEO was great and hoped that he would stay - could it be that having a good lead can filter through and improve staff moral so much? Maybe training has improved?

Whatever it was we felt compelled to praise you all for a really good day at ESH! Thanks.

Dear 'Clarrisa'

Thank you for taking the time to comment on the new facilities and I'm delighted to hear all the staff you met were pleasant and helpful. As you might have seen in the press or our own publications, the Trust has invested money in lots of services including the new facilities that you used during your visit. The retail stores are proving very popular with staff and visitors alike and really add to improving our patients' experience at the hospital. I am new to the Trust and I have to agree with you that the staff I come across do seem happy and are always helpful. I will pass on your comment to Michael, our CEO - he does go out of his way to get out and about around the hospital and to meet staff regularly and is a very positive person - I think this does help staff moral. I know he will be delighted to read your comment.
