"My toddler not being seen by GP"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had been under the weather and very run down. A small blister had appeared on his buttock which I was treating myself with cleansing and barrier cream.

By the Tuesday I was concerned as it wasn’t healing. I called the GP in which we received a phone consultation. I had to email the doctor a picture of the wound which resulted in a prescription of cortisone cream. I wasn’t convinced this was correct however having to trust the doctor I used it for two days. This resulted in the wound getting worse and larger. I called the doctors again which they finally gave us an appointment to be seen.

The doctor which we seen was very good with my son and very honest about previous treatment. It was explained that the cream wasn’t the appropriate cream and has made the wound worse. I’m very upset about this as my child has suffered the past few days and has been totally distraught getting the cream on. I feel let down that my child wasn’t seen and received the correct treatment. I totally understand with the current situation how much pressure everyone is under and I appreciate how hard it is to work in these conditions however, my son has suffered due to this.
