"Left out of the loop"

About: Adult Mental Health Services / Eastvale Resource Centre & Day Hosp

(as a service user),

Nothing much happened at all. I was referred by my GP. I returned home after 7 years living abroad because my life-long mental health challenges were catching up to me. I had my first 1-hour ADHD assessment in March. When COVID came, nobody called me, I simply received letter after letter regarding cancelled/rescheduled appointments.

I quit cannabis and limited my intake of alcohol at the request of my Dr. Many months later, they prescribed me Trazadone and Diazepam after a short conversation. We clearly misunderstood one another, because my concerns regarding the medication were founded, the side-effects were dangerous and unpleasant. I haven't spoken to this Dr since they made the last prescription, I have only been in contact with my GP and their assistant.

I feel left out of the loop here, spoken to like a child, swept aside. I've called, I've been passed around, I've had rude/unmotivated staff members on the phone. My experience with Eastvale has been garbage.

Hi JimmyInTheMiddle,

Firstly, apologies in delay in responding to this as am recently in post and was awaiting training to access this site for responding.

I'm sorry to hear of your experience with our service as I'm acutely aware of the importance of effective communication in delivering care. I'm sure it's been very frustrating for you. As you've mentioned, Covid-19 has been very disruptive to normal service provision and that any written correspondence you received should have clearly stated this and how to contact the service should you need to.

I thank you for your comment as we want to learn and improve how we deliver services. If you would like to contact our Patient Affairs Department 01698858321 where we can discuss your experience further.

thanks

Michael Taylor
