"on Mental Health day psychiatry and GP won't offer help to suicidal patient"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Liaison Psychiatry Nursing team General Practices in Grampian

(as a service user),

There's lots of talk now about how important it is to support each other's mental health in these difficult times.   What isn't spoke about is the lack of practical care and solutions being made available to people who  attempt suicide.   For a number of reasons I have apparently attempted suicide 5 times in the past 4 months.   I only remember 2.   Despite asking for urgent psychiatric support from a psychiatrist and a GP I've been told that the reason I'm not being offered support is that takes time to get together people involved to discuss my case and that I get too upset when I talk about the difficulties.   Unfortunately this is what they said, in writing.   So, if you live in the Grampian Region and are under the GP I am under and need urgent support to help get you through the day because you are suicidal please don't have the expectation that they will offer help.

Hi.

Thanks for your response.

Just to clarify - I am unsupported. It's not a feeling.

I've tried calling your second number but it just goes dead. The first number has some sort of error in it - can you resend a number that will be answered, please.

Thank you

Hi. I've received your letter, thank you for your response and intervention.

It was good that you managed to get a response from Liaison Psychiatry. Although it was rather worrying to find out that nearly 10 weeks after I last spoke to them they still hadn't made any arrangements for a multi discipline team assessment, or support of any type, nor had they informed me of this.

The stress I am under due to my original issues are surely compounded by the fact that my requests for further information and help simply go ignored.

You asked if I had made a complaint but surely no one should have to do so in order to access the support and treatment from the NHS that they are entitled to.
