What I liked
Wonderful hospital, state of the art equipment, pioneering, proactive and helpful staff. A fantastic positive ethos throughout the whole of the hospital right from Professors through to the kitchen and cleaning staff. The hospital is kept immaculately clean. We enjoyed the food immensely - they buy outside the NHS directly from farmers to produce great food for both patients and visitors - great as a morale boost when you are staying there for a long period as an inpatient! The teams all work so well with other hospitals to disseminate information and obtain information to provide the best care. My 16 year old son was beautifully cared for both as an inpatient this year, and as an outpatient for his rare muscle condition since he was aged 5. We grew to love every member of the nursing and medical professional team during our month-long stay and have got to know the other wonderful members of the medical professional team throughout the years. Staff do tend to stay in this hospital rather than move around which is a credit to the hospital management. All staff we met were highly trained professionals - their approach is very patient-centred. What is so great about this hospital is that all the other patients here seem to share the same view that the service provided here is world-class - it is a good topic of conversation when you meet them in the patient kitchen! Our son has been seen by a number of other hospitals throughout his lifetime, and we always feel confident that the teams at the Brompton know his rare condition and know exactly how to treat the respiratory complications caused by it - they are a "breath of fresh air"! It has been a highly positive, life-enhancing, and indeed life-extending, experience for our son to attend and be cared for by the respiratory specialists and other medical professionals this hospital. We can't thank them enough for their care and for helping to maintain his quality of life.
What could be improved
Nothing!
Anything else?
We hope that specialist paediatric cardiac services are not taken away from this hospital - it complements and amounts to a better service all round.
"Positively life enhancing, we can't thank all at..."
