I discovered the existence of the MI Unit on the Southern Trust website. Phoned in advance to ensure I could be seen. I arrived to an almost empty waiting area and I was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Although I had sustained a bad fall and had a painful hand ,hip and knee I learned that they could not x-ray my hip as there was no doctor on site. It would have been useful to have known this in advance. X-ray revealed broken wrist and I was very grateful to have it put in cast and sent on my away without delay.
All staff were pleasant and helpful. However maybe the X-ray department might consider offering a gown that is easy to put on when the patient has suspected fractures. I had been dressed at home by my daughter and struggled to get out of my clothes and into a tight fitting hospital gown without assistance.
