"Shoulder Treatment"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Reported issue January 2019

Misdiagnosed shoulder issue by physio at hospital.
Had to do several months of painful exercise issued by physio, taking anti inflammatory and pain killers to control pain.

Now have gastric problems from taking the anti inflammatory medicine, so now taking no NSAIDs only anti acid and anti depressants to allow me to sleep at night though pain.

Had unguided shoulder injection - did not work.

Saw Orthopaedic specialist who then said I had osteoarthritis in shoulder as he looked at X-ray taken over a year earlier.  He suggested guided injection with possible shoulder replacement down the line.

Had guided injection - has not worked

Having another, hopefully soon.

It is coming up to 2 years later - still in pain and not resolved with added stomach issues.  I understand that covid didn't help but most of my treatment and misdiagnosis was in 2019.

Had it been diagnosed earlier and correctly by an orthopaedics, not physio, I wouldn't have had to go through months of painful physio which has only aggravated damage, caused pain and have damaged stomach and now issues with left shoulder.

Love NHS but system slow and bloated.

Putting me through physio first has wasted everyone's time and NHS money.  System needs streamlining and rethink.

Hopefully seeing orthopaedic specialist for arranged appointment in January 2021 - exactly 2 years later.
