"Security staff at my appointment"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiology (X-rays and Scans)

(as the patient),

I had to go for a mammogram ( lovely radiographer, explained everything , kind and empathetic) and went in through the Rotunda entrance. There were 2 security staff there chatting masks hanging from one ear. You had to pass close to them, and they had to let you in. Not a good look. When I came out they were still chatting, and still masks hanging off of one ear. I spoke to them and said it didn’t look good and they said they were exempt as they had asthma.

Just not good enough.

Dear Susnz84

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on Care Opinion. I was very heartened to read about your positive experience with the radiology staff whilst having a mammogram procedure. I will pass on your comments to the staff concerned as this is such a morale boost when they receive comments such as these.

However, I was equally disappointed by the security staff not wearing face coverings as I would expect them to be leading by example. Some people are exempt from wearing face coverings and therefore would have expected that they would not have a mask on and not hanging from their ear. I am very sorry that this does not appear to be the case. I have contacted the security manager and they will re-emphasise the need to wear face coverings appropriately by their staff team

Thanks again for your comments they really help us to continually improve services here at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

Kindest Regards

Yvonne Wright
