"A thank you to midwives and staff"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

My son Leo is now just over 1 year old, and even though much time has past since his birth I am still filled with so much gratitude for the midwives and staff at Wishaw and the wonderful care and attention they provided to my son and I - I want to say thank you. Time goes by so quickly, but even after a year I still remember my midwives Ashley and Emma.  I want to send my best wishes to you and hope you are doing well.

The experience I had on delivering my son was not necessarily the plan or vision that I had.  My son was born by emergency caesarean section and I was subsequently re-admitted to hospital and treated with suspected sepsis.  I say this not to discourage anyone or to be negative but to say that sometimes there is a bigger plan that you cannot forsee or know and that through it all the care that I received made the delivery of my boy into the world special, and I knew that at every stage that myself and my son were in the best hands and I felt reassured in that every step of the way.  My labour with my midwives by my side was one that will remain with me and it will always make me smile.  Ashley "my angel" my midwife made me feel so safe and secure, my time in labour was like catching up with an old friend, chatting, yes and even laughing, sharing our stories and very much feeling that my husband and I had a dear friend sharing in all of it with us whilst at all time being totally professional and navigating and talking me through each step of the way.  Ashley came by to see me in the ward following the birth and I'm so grateful that you took the time to come see me it was so nice to see a friendly face.  Thank you so much Ashley, I hope that I'll one day see you in person give you a big hug and you will get to see my son and be reminded of the great work that you do.

Thank you to all the midwives and staff at Wishaw maternity, the time that I was there my son and I were given the best care and midwives were so loving and patient, from the bottom of my heart thank you.  I know that current times are particularly tough but know that my family and I every day think of you and wish you all the very best you do an amazing job and we are eternally grateful.

I would like to donate to Wishaw Maternity if I could if anyone could provide any details on how best to do that it would be much appreciated.

Dear GeeGee,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience with us here at Wishaw. It is so nice to hear your positive feedback, even when things did not go to plan! It is testament to our Midwives that you still remember your experience clearly and I will ensure that both Ashley and Emma see your comments as they will be delighted.

I hope both you and Leo are doing well and I am sure you are kept busy with a lively one year old.

I also thank you for your kind request to provide a donation to Maternity services.

If you could call me on 01698361100 when you have a chance and we can discuss further,

Take care and very best wishes to you and your family from us all at Maternity.

Kind regards,

Leah.
