"GP Appointments"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a service user),

I have been going through various treatments and tests for some time, for a number of different matters. I received a text message on Friday asking me to make an appointment to speak to the GP.

I have spent almost an hour trying to get into the queue for an appointment, followed by a further hour on the phone, in the queue, only to discover the practice is closed and has not set up their phone service as such. This kind of wait is typical and the phone triage system is a nightmare.

Dear Lucyvp

I am very sorry to hear of your recent experience trying to contact your GP practice and acknowledge this will have been very frustrating and upsetting.

GPs are independent contractors and are responsible for investigating and responding to any concerns about their service directly. If you wish to pursue this matter, I can advise you on making a complaint or concern with your GP practice – please get in touch by email at patientaffairs.primarycare@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk or telephone 01698 858 321 quoting Care Opinion.

Kind regards

Alison Harden
