"All very good and efficient"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as the patient),

Following a productive cough I developed along with other concerning symptoms I called up N.H.S. 24 for advice.

Knowing I had asthma and epilepsy I wanted to get medical advice on how to proceed. The Call Handler & Nurse at N.H.S. 24 were very thorough and effective in their assessment questions.

Following their telephone assessment I was adviced to go for a Covid test as a safeguard.  So, I've just been for a precautionary Covid 19 Test at Woodside Health Centre! I'd never been before. Thankfully I was told that I didn't present with the "classic covid 19 symptoms".

But, I was pretty impressed by the speed at which I was assessed by N.H.S. 24, taken to the health centre by patient transport, given a full checkover, treated & returned back home in under 2 hours. Excellent. 👍
The staff at the Health Centre were all very good and efficient. Despite my worries about having Covid. It turned out I was given antibiotics
for a possible chest infection & a peak flow meter for monitoring my asthma as well as a safeguard. But I'd give 10/10 for the N.H.S. staff working there that evening. Bravo! 🌈❤ 🌈

Hi

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide positive comments on Care Opinion. I hope you are feeling much better and although you have been told your symptoms don't appear Covid related, I do hope your test result is negative.

Your experience is a shining example of services working together to provide efficient and effective patient care. To be triaged on the phone, transported, assessed, tested, prescribed medication and returned home within two hours is great and I am so pleased, given your other health concerns, that this was your experience.

Here at NHS 24 we work hard to ensure that patients receive the right care at the right time. We also work closely with our partner Health Boards to ensure a seamless patient journey, so it's great to read your positive comments for all involved.

If you wish to provide any additional detail on your call to 111, then I would be delighted to hear from you. You can get me at patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thanks again for getting in touch and best wishes for the future.

Shona

Dear LOVE YOUR NHS

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. It sounds like you have been through quite an ordeal and whilst I am sorry to read that you have ended up with antibiotics, I am pelased to read that you tested negative for COVID-19.

It is a very worrying time for many and I am just so glad that the response and management of your care has had such a positive impact on your experience. I hope that you have a speedy recovery and are feeling fully better very soon.

I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan

Update posted by LOVE YOUR NHS (the patient)

Thanks for the responses Alan and Shona.

My only minor issue was the concerns of the type of Patient Transport Vehicle used [Hire Vans] which didn't have an adequate step to get into it. As it wasn't designed to be used by patients with any mobility issues.

Perhaps a mobile step could be provided to aid elderly or less mobile people to step up into the van. As the vans step was quite high off the ground.

Otherwise I take my hat off to all those with the Scottish Ambulance Service. Both Emergency Services and Patient Transport. 💙
