Written on behalf of my granny-
She attended ARI for a PET scan (is a patient from Highlands so travelled down). All staff, especially the nurse who prepared her with her cannula were lovely to her. Except the last staff member who was reluctant to help her to the exit even after informing her twice that her eyesight is very poor and she’d struggle to find her way out. The nurse/auxiliary did eventually show her the way out but was walking at a very brisk pace which was hard for a near 83 year old woman who’s had 2 hip replacements to keep up with.
I understand that everyone is very busy and there are different ways of working now however compassion and patience should still be a priority, especially when dealing with someone who is poor sighted and just had a recent cancer diagnosis. She is a very strong woman but feels very much like this person was treating her like she was on a conveyer belt and couldn’t care less.
Just to reiterate everyone else was lovely and put her at ease but felt dismissed by the last person she had contact with.
