"Child with broken arm"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine

(as a parent/guardian),

A few weeks ago my 7 year old broke his arm quite badly. We took him to the Emergency Department at Dr Gray's Hospital and the care that he received was outstanding.   Even with all the Covid-19 measures he was seen quickly, calmly and efficiently by SCN Ian Darcy and then by Consultant Ali. They were very caring and kind to my wee boy, keeping him calm and distracted and they clearly explained the options to me as his parent. What could have been a very distressing manipulation was carried out with the minimum fuss and adequate analgesia and we avoided a return visit to theatre for sedation. We left the department reassured that we would be followed up appropriately and my wee boy was delighted with his cast in his favourite colour!

Dear Gibmac,

Many thanks for taking the time to share such positive feedback about your experience in our Emergency Department. It's heart-warming to hear that the team cared so diligently for your son and kept him calm during what I'm sure was an unsettling situation for him.

I will make sure Senior Staff Nurse Darcy and Dr Ali received a copy of your kind feedback and wish your son all the best for his ongoing recovery.

Kind regards,

Louise
