I was admitted to Day Surgery at 7am for Sacrocolpopexy. I was seen by my Nurse who checked all my drugs and past problems. I was then seen by one of the surgeons, a very genial man who told me again what was going to be done. Then I met the anaesthetist, also a very genial lady who put me at my ease instantly.
I was taken to a side ward and prepared for my surgery. I then lay on my bed and read my book, very relaxed and ready for my op.
I had 2 students to ask me my history and one of them asked me to sign a paper allowing him to give me an internal exam under the instruction of the surgeons.
After I was finished and delivered to Daphne ward, I continued to receive the very best nursing care.
After a good night, (very quiet in ward) I was seen by Mr Slack and his team. He told me I could go home that day if I passed water, I did.
The morning was taken up by Sister Heather. She told me all I needed to know.
She registered me with a company I will get my catheters from. I received a delivery the day after I got home. Amazing, she was looking after so many other ladies as well as me.
I can't praise every one enough. The whole team are incredible.
Mr Slack is at the very top of the tree with Heather just below. Thank You all
"Thank you all for the great care I had at Addenbrooke's"
