"Hearing Aid Batteries"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Audiology

(as a service user),

My Mum usually gets her hearing aid batteries from her local health centre. Due to Covid they no longer provide this service. I have tried ringing the audiology Department at Glasgow   Royal but the number 0141 211 5062 is unobtainable. Tried going through the main switchboard number but getting nowhere. Please help in advising me how to get some batteries. I know she can purchase some but this is not the point. She is 94 years old and should be able to get this service as normal.

Hi Sulahaka, thank you for getting in touch and I am sorry to hear you have had difficulty reaching the Audiology Service at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

I have spoken with colleagues in the Audiology department and they asked I pass on their apologies that you 've not been able to reach them via the number you shared above. They advised that they have recently gone through a phone number change to 0141 211 6342 and this should be reflected on the NHSGGC and dedicated Audiology Webpages, if it was not I can feedback to the team to update it.

The team have asked that I pass on that they would be happy to give you a call to discuss the matter of your mothers hearing aids, and that you can email the team at Audiology.GRI@ggc.scot.nhs.uk leaving a name and phone number and they will reach out to you if you are unable to get them on 0141 211 6342.

I hope this helps and your mother is able to resolve her hearing aid issues quickly.

Kind Regards

Paul

Thank you for the update. It may be a good idea to put a message on the previous number to advise people of the number change as this is the number listed on the record book for patients. Thanks again for your time.
