"Care of children"

About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Childrens Ward

(as a service user),

What a night I have had! It started with my eldest splitting her ear, swiftly followed by my 1 year old going extremely pale and vacant.

Attended Causeway A&E department and the doctors and nurses were amazing in dealing with both my children. My 1 year old was seen by an ED consultant within 10 minutes and sent to the children's ward where again the nurses and doctors were amazing. She was then seen by a paediatric consultant and discharged home. Thankfully both girls all fine. One ear glued in ED (big thanks to Dr Declan in for putting up with the screaming).

Everyone I met was pleasant and caring. Taking time to chat with the girls. The nurse in ED even gave my 1 year old a teddy which she loved. And the ice lolly from the children's nurses was also well received.

2 children seen and out within 3 hours. First class service! Well done causeway ED and Causeway children's ward! Amazing as ever!

Hello positivethinking84. My name is Natalie and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager for the ED in Causeway.

You certainly all had an eventful night on reading your feedback. Therefore, we genuinely appreciate you taking the time to post this really positive feedback, about our service and our staff.

Attending an ED with 2 children must have been extremly stressful, therefore, it is so satisfying to hear that you experienced an efficient and effective service.

Our ED team welcome your postive feedback, and it lets us know when we do well, and gives a boost to the team's morale. It is also wonderful to hear that the staff took time to reassure the children and yourself, and treated you all with care and compassion. So glad to hear your 1 year old loved her teddy, and a lolly always helps!

I will be sharing this with our staff at our safety briefings, and I will also ensure that our ED Consultant and Dr Declan are both made aware of this lovely feedback. They will be really pleased to hear how they contributed to your, and the girls experience in ED.

Thank you again

Natalie
