"Termination of pregnancy"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

I was admitted to gynaecology today for a termination that sadly took place due to health reasons. While this was a distressing time for me, I am grateful for all the care I received today.

The nurses and in particular Nurse Jenny and another nurse who's name I did not catch, treated me with kindness and respect and were very caring. I was in a lot of pain and was given plenty of pain relief and they were always quick to respond when I pressed the buzzer. Aftercare was good too and I was not made to feel rushed. I would like to thank all in ward 211 for looking after me on what was a difficult today and for being supportive and non-judgemental.

Dear loubella

Thank you for your very kind feedback regarding your experience as a patient in ward 211 last week for a termination. I am sorry you had to make this decision for health reasons and appreciate how distressing this must have been for you. The nurses are aware that choices made by women are extremely difficult and they are there to deliver the best possible care.

I have shared your comments with the senior charge nurse who has spoken with her team, including Jenny, today. They are delighted to hear that the standard of care you received was at the level we strive to achieve.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards

Margaret
