"Neonatal Department in Craigavon Hospital"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Neonatal Unit Maternity care / 2 West Maternity Maternity care / Day Obstetrics Unit Maternity care / Delivery suite Maternity care / Maternity Admission/Assessment Unit Maternity care / Maternity and Gynaecology outpatient clinics

(as a parent/guardian),

At 33 weeks pregnant I went into labour and had a baby girl, she was taken straight to Neo natal by Dr Greer and his team, once id came around after my c section Dr Greer came to see mysle an my husband and gave us a update on our daughter.  I was taken to see my baby for the first time, she was put straight onto my chest and the nurses where just lovely in there caring nature etc and they explained the wires and c- pap etc that she was on.

Our girl stayed in the unit for two full weeks and the care she received and us as parents was out off this world.  We were allowed to visit her regularly when we wanted and the team where always lovely and on hand to give updates.  Even at night when I was back on the ward the team where happy for me to phone down to make sure she was ok and this continued every night until we got her home.  The nurses where so caring and nice.

Within the two week our daughter was fed through a tube for a good part off her stay and we as her parents where able to learn how to complete the tube feeds,  even if I had a teary day or found it hard leaving in the evening the team where always on hand to reassure us off any worries we may have had.  We had a few set back over the two weeks and the team talked us through everything and always made feel so much better.  One nurse in particular was even happy to sit with me and show me how to express milk for my baby which I found hard.
The team off nurses took there team to know about my baby's older siblings and always made off them when they where allowed in at the weekend. Our children found it hard with their little sister in hospital and when they did visit the nurses made off them.

The team in Neo natal at Craigavon are amazing people, very special people each an everyone off them and I will never forget the care an support they gave our girl and us as a family. I always say these nurses are Earths Angels for the amazing work that they do. Thank you to Seanna, Sonya, Ruth, Kate to name a few of her nurses and to stay a massive thank you to each and everyone off you.  Also a massive thankyou to Dr Greer for everything he did for our girl from birth to now.

Thank you so much for making these lovely comments about the care we were able to give your daughter. We always try our best to involve families in the care of their babies and I'm delighted that you got the support you needed during what can be a very difficult time when your daughter was in the neonatal unit.

Thank you for mentioning me in your feedback. I'm always grateful for any feedback and I will pass your compliments to the nurses you have named as well. I hope you and your family are doing well and again I want to thank you for your lovely comments as they will encourage us in keeping up the standard of the care we give to babies and families.

Hello,

Thank you for the lovely feedback from your time in the unit and a personal thank you from myself for mentioning me in your story, I truly appreciate it.

It is heart warming to hear that from the start Of your journey you felt content and confident with our care in neonatal. I am very happy you got to holistically carry out all aspects of your daughters care and learn the skill of NGT feeding.

We consider family integrated care of high importance in the unit and it’s great to here how beneficial it was for your other children to visit, helping them bond and ease their worries, whilst your daughter was still in hospital.

I sincerely hope you are all keeping well as a family and thank you again for the very positive comments!

Seanna
