I drove my husband to A&E at Heartlands Hospital on Saturday morning at the end of October 2012, as he was in a great deal of pain.
I dropped him off, went to park and by the time I had parked the car he was in a cubicle being assessed by a senior nurse and within a very short space of time he was seen by a doctor. Bloods were taken, pain-killing drugs given and a CT scan arranged. After the scan we were told a doctor had been called from urology to give a second opinion on the scan and to speak to us both.
During the wait for this to happen nurses and the doctor kept coming in to check on my husband. When the doctor came from urology he explained that my husband was to be admitted to ward 11 for further tests. At approx 1pm we were taken by a nurse and porter to that ward.
During the afternoon various scans were carried out and my husband was seen again by doctors and advised he would be moving to ward 10, this was done around 8.30 pm. Today, even though a Sunday, doctors have been to see him.
Thank you all so much for the care given to my husband.
