Dear DD34

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Naturally I am disappointed to learn that your mum's discharge has not been the positive experience that it should have been. I would really like you to reach out and tell me more about what prompted you to leave the feedback. It is important that we know when things don't go as smoothly as they should so that we can take steps to improve our service in the future. Unfortunately at the moment, your feedback does not give us enough information to take any steps to make improvements. Should you decide to provide us with further information, please contact the Patient Experience Team on 01387 246246 or by email on dumfuhb.dgpatientexperience.

Kind regards

Alexis

Update posted by DD34 (a relative)

Mum was an inpatient for a week in the CAU. Fortunately she had a mobile phone as COVID meant no one could visit. It was difficult to get through to ward staff and I was always told that she was settled. I had to be persistent to get any more information and was seldom able to speak to the nurses. Mum was telling me a very different story, that she was in significant pain and not sleeping well.

On Monday there was no plan about her coming home and I was to call back on Tuesday.

When I called on the Tuesday they thought she might get home in the afternoon. A further phone call identified that she may get home on Wednesday but they thought it may be Thursday or Friday.

On Wednesday I got a call to say if transport and STARs could be organised she may get home that afternoon but they would call back. I was absolutely stunned when the doorbell rang in the evening and this was transport bringing her home!
