Sadly, my Mum passed away recently.  She was 91, as is my Dad.  He is starting to fail, especially in mobility and recently had a fall, resulting in a fracture of his left humerus.  Up until then he was managing on his own and enjoyed being independent.  He is a very proud man and doesn't want to be a burden to anyone.

His fall took away his independence, and he came to live with me for 6 weeks, with the support of STARS.  I cannot praise them all enough for all their help and support, without which, I would have been struggling.  Dad looked forward to their visits as he is a very sociable person and they made time to chat and put him at his ease.  They also made us aware of other services that we were unaware of.  I would highly recommend them.

Dear Dads Helper

I am so sorry to read of the loss of your Mother and hope you are both coping.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your father regaining his confidence and abilities. It was equally as important to read that you felt the benefit of support to you as a family member and Carer for your father. I trust that by being supported to learn about wider community service you will feel able to access these if and when needed.

I have shared your comments with the team who were delighted to hear your recommendation.
