(as a relative),

My 41 year old husband has been urgently referred to Neuro regarding serious Progressive Neorological condition (suspected Motor Neuron) this was early July and my understanding that urgent referrals are currently working through April cases.   This is causing so much stress and anxiety to our family and being forced to seek private consultation at our own cost to see an NHS doctor!   The nhs is supposedly open for business but that is not our experience.   My husband is getting worse in these last 8 weeks it terrifyingly leaves the worry about the Potential minimum 4 month wait from now!   I pity the people with an non urgent referral as they may wait years.

Dear L14da

I am sorry to hear your husband has become unwell and this has resulted in an urgent referral to Neurology. I appreciate it must be a very worrying tome for you and your family.

The NHS is and has continued to be open throughout the Covid-19 pandemic however our capacity has reduced significantly in line with Government Guidelines to ensure safety for patients, staff and visitors. We are remobilising services and increasing our capacity each week and hopefully will be able to reduce waiting times for all services.

Thank you for your response, thankfully since contacting patient affairs and my local MP my husband has received an appointment next Friday. Just a shame it took those measures for someone to listen.
