"Amazing team"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I was in intensive care from a cardiac arrest at the age of 19. The nurses and doctors were amazing to me. I had many blood complications but they looked after me so well. I was in there for 3 weeks and even the nurses who never looked after me, knew of me and spoke to me when they would walk by. I made a real connection and bond with the nurses because they made me feel safe when I was all alone. I have never been cared for by such amazing people before and I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for me. Even radiology and haematology and the many departments I went to. Everyone was Amazing in making sure I lived and they did everything they could. They never gave up on me. As horrible as the situation was, they made being alone bearable because I knew I could trust and I was safe with the individuals looking after me. I was able to talk to them, have a laugh and try to get through a tough situation. They all supported me even the ones who didn’t look after me, they all supported me because of the tough situation I was in and I knew I could count of any one of them. I can’t explain how grateful and appreciative I am of them on intensive care. I really can’t because there isn’t enough words to explain the love, the care and the determination the nurses and doctors have for their patients. I am lucky to be home today very lucky and I owe it all of them. Thank you so much. Lauren

Dear Lauren

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Bournemouth Hospital and how thankful you are to the staff took care of you during what must have been a very traumatic time for you and your family.

I had heard from the department who have said how you gave them gave them ‘sleepless nights' and extra grey hairs and how they would come in each day and rush to check on you to see if you were getting better; they have also said:

“We were so pleased to hear the amazing news that you recovered so well and went home. It’s also lovely to hear that our team make such a difficult time a little easier, and really do make patients feel safe and cared for. Thank you for your lovely words”

Thank you for highlighting how you always felt so cared for and supported during a time of being so ill and alone and how the staff made those times more bearable for you.

The team would all like to wish you well, as do we.

Regards and best wished for the future.
