"Ask My GP"

About: Penn Hill Surgery, Yeovil

Real difficulties using this facility. Have been trying now over 2 days. Problems with password initially. When finally logged in there was a message saying there were technical difficulties meaning they were accepting no new requests (3pm Friday) - call reception if urgent. Tried again today and had same message at 11am. Problem now becoming urgent and struggling to work so tried to phone on three occasions. First 2 times I was 9th in queue and unable to wait. 3rd time 6th in the queue so waited - managed to connect and was then immediately cut off. Tried AskmyGP again - still saying technical difficulties. Tried again to call (by now 2pm), this time I could wait and connected but promptly admonished by reception staff for not using AskmyGP. After explaining problems I was told I should try again as the earlier problems were resolved. At my insistence they took my problem details by phone and told me they would be unable to to next time as I needed to use on-line system. Thanked them for assistance and I am now waiting for a call. Out of curiosity I tried to use Ask My GP again and it still says there are technical difficulties. Had I followed receptions instruction I would have hit another brick wall. This system is a real obstacle to accessing treatment for acute problems.

I can only apologise for the difficulties experienced with Ask My GP today. This was a national problem caused, we are told, by a huge post Bank Holiday demand for the service. Along with many other practices we have made representation to the suppliers as this is clearly not a good enough service for our patients or our staff. We were receiving updates from AMGP to say that the problem would be resolved within a short period which is why our receptionists were giving advice to keep trying the system. I do appreciate however how frustrating this must have been. I would be very happy to discuss the matter with you further and apologise personally should you wish to contact me at the surgery.
