"Not being able to access local out of hours doctor"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Accident & Emergency Inverclyde Royal Hospital / General Surgery Inverclyde Royal Hospital / GP Out of Hours Service

(as the patient),

As a person from Inverclyde, I have to travel to Paisley or Glasgow just to see a doctor since they removed out of hours from Greenock Health Centre. It's easier to just go to A& E, however that then clogs up emergency department with non emergency issues. Some people have no transport to get 25 miles each way to be seen. I was called back by the doctor, which I felt I had to beg for as it wasn't even offered. The doctor told me I was fine and it was viral. I ended up in emergency surgery a few days later which also resulted in some surgical and post surgical complications.

Hello Skittlesxx,

I am sorry to hear about your experience when accessing the GP Out of hours service.

I can investigate this if you would be kind enough to email me directly with further details including your name, address, date of birth, and date of contact with the out of hours. You can reach me via the following email address: PatientExperience@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

I do hope you are recovering from your surgery.

Best wishes,

Raylene
