"An infection in my toes"

I could see that something was wrong with the toenail on my right big toe and it seemed to be spreading to other toes on my right foot.
I tried topical remedies from the pharmacist but eventually visited my GP Surgery. The nurse practitioner thought it might be malignant melanoma so referred me to the dermatology department of Lincoln County hospital on a 2 week referral.
I was seen within that 2 week frame and the dermatologist took samples from the nails. Thankfully it wasn't malignant melanoma but was diagnosed as 'green nail syndrome'.
I was prescribed drops to apply to the nail beds morning and evening but the problem persisted.
The dermatologist phoned me during lockdown and I told her there was no improvement. She asked for a photo which I sent to her and she prescribed tablets for me to take for three months. As lockdown continued, she phoned again about my progress and kept to the allotted time when I was told she'd phone me.
So far, the tablets are working and I'm seeing the dermatologist in a few weeks' time. She has been excellent - really caring and conscientious.
