I have a condition where I have to have my blood checked every 4 weeks since having blood poisoning around 4 yrs ago, the haematology dept sent me letters to state that I should not attend the hospital due to Covid-19, they said I would receive a phone call last Thursday. The phone call came an hour early and did not ring very long, by the time I had got my phone out from my handbag the call had ended. I phoned the number straight back and was told that no-one could take my call but they would pass a message on that I had called and someone would call me back by the end of the day, I did not receive a call back.
I am feeling very anxious about my condition and the fact that my blood is not being checked. Missing the call and no one calling me back has increased this.
I realise staff are very busy but I have since phoned at least 6 times and all I am told is that staff are aware I have called.
I now have received a letter to say my next phone call appointment will not be until 17th December, this is over 4 mths to wait and I am very ill and in considerable pain.
You ask what could be improved? I would suggest more staff to make these phone calls to patients, I feel I and other patients are being ignored and pushed aside due to covid-19.
