"Climbing head injury"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I slipped while climbing and hit my head on the ground. Everyone involved in making sure I was ok was marvellous. The first responder, paramedics and mountain rescue were friendly and reassuring. The staff in A&E were attentive and friendly and did everything they could to assess the extent of my injuries.

When a CT scan revealed a small brain bleed, I felt reassured that I was being properly cared for as another hospital was consulted.

I stayed for observation for a couple of days and the staff were so kind and friendly despite working 12 and a half hour shifts! I was given lots of restorative cups of tea and the ward was kept so clean and welcoming. I really feel like I received excellent treatment and would like to say a big thank you!
