About: General practices in Tayside

(as a service user),

I was a very active person until lockdown. I coped well to begin with then came the announcement about mandatory face coverings in shops etc. I contacted my medical practice and got misinformation from the practice manager for which I registered a complaint. I got a response but too late to undo the damage done to my state of mind.

I was coping with my face visor, I have a phobia of face coverings, until, the first Minister announced that face visors on their own were not enough. I was then politely asked to not come back to a local shop and everything has gone downhill since then.

I am now scared to go out other than to walk my dog in open spaces. I have lost all confidence and spend a lot of time sobbing. At night I have dreadful nightmares which are repetitive so I get up rather than endure them. I am sole carer to my alcoholic much older husband who has dementia and refuses all help. I am at my wits end. Who do I turn to now?

Dear Larghan

I am sorry hear that you are feeling so distressed by the situation you describe. I know you feel let down by your medical practice but could you talk to your GP about how you are feeling? There are also other people who may be able to offer you support and direct you to services in your local area for example your local carers organization.

I hope that by speaking to someone soon you will feel less distressed.
