"Care in Ward 5B"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General medicine (Wards 5d)

(as a relative),

I'm writing this on behalf of my mum. She wants to express her gratitude for everything done by Ward 5B and the other teams that were involved in her care during a very scary two weeks!

Before I continue, I would just like to say that my mum is doing wonderfully now and has recovered fully. My mum is entirely herself again in large part due to the care and help she received whilst in the ward.

My mum wants to communicate her gratitude to all members of staff for their patience and understanding during the time she “wasn’t herself”. It was also a comfort to myself that staff understood that the QEUH isn’t just any other hospital to my mum, and as a result they were discreet and sensitive regarding her needs. My mum wanted me to say in her words “thank you for putting up with me”. Other staff, including the hospital security team and hospital coordinators, were also very understanding of the situation my mother was in at the time and she wants me to also thank them for everything they done to help her.

Over the two weeks my mum was a patient she must have met every member of ward staff on 5B and she assures me that everyone from doctors, nurses and auxiliary nurses through to the domestic and catering staff helped her in their own ways. There are too many staff members to name but I’m sure they will remember interacting with my mum!

My mum also added that she enjoyed the food and that her room was kept very clean!

As a member of family, I felt able to contact the ward with any concerns and I was able to speak to the appropriate people regarding my views on my mum’s care when I needed to. The staff of Ward 5B really went above and beyond. Thank you from my mum and thank you from myself for everything you have all done to help my mum get better.

Dear indigogp43

Thank you for taking the time to leave such touching feedback in regards to the time your mum spent on Ward 5 of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. I'm extremely happy to hear your mum has made a full recovery and is now back to her normal self.

It was comforting to hear your mum held all the staff in such high regard and they were able to make her feel comfortable and relaxed in what I can only imagine was a very scary time for her and you as a family.

I will be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to all the staff involved in your mum's care including the doctors, nurses, catering and domestic staff who I'm sure will be just as humbled as me to read how your mum has progressed since her visit.

I'm also glad to hear the communication between the family and staff was just as good as the care provided to your mother.

Thank you so much for your kind words this is very much appreciated from everyone involved.

Kind regards

Kevin
