I was advised to go to a& e by my gp who suggested I may need an X-ray on my foot (I did end up having an X-ray). I came straight from work so was still in my uniform (well known supermarket). I had one mask on me. I put this on in the queue, the same as everyone else. I removed my mask briefly to take a drink. As I removed my mask the string broke. I was in a lot of pain and forgot to ask the receptionist if they had a spare one.
I sat down in a& e after booking in and was approached by a very abrupt nurse. They waved a mask in my face, and said very loudly “like every supermarket, it is essential to wear masks in here. ” I explained that my mask had broken and forgot to ask if they had a spare. I also reminded them that it’s not essential that shop workers wear a mask, just that it is recommended. They raised their voice even more and said “actually it is the law. So put it on! ” Everyone in the queue was looking at me and I just feel this approach was very unnecessary. I could understand if I was rude or refused to wear a mask but I didn’t.
"Rude nurse"
