"Breast cancer care - I feel alot more positive now"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Cancer Services Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Breast care and breast surgery

(as the patient),

Having had a breast cancer diagnosis, which left me in a state of shock for quite a long time,my emotions were all over the place. However, the dedicated staff at Exeter Hospital were very reassuring and helped me through the stages of my forthcoming treatments.  My operation was  within weeks after my diagnosis. I then had radiotherapy. Again the dedicated staff helped alleviate my fears.

After my breast cancer operation, I had another scare with my other breast. A few weeks later, I had an operation at North Devon Hospital to remove milk glands. Thankfully, the result was fine.
I've had my yearly mammograms, including Oncology appointments at North Devon Hospital for the past five years. Thankfully, I've had good results throughout. The staff have always been very kind and helpful.  Nothing is too much trouble for them, even when they are very busy.
Now my yearly visits have ended, I know if I  need to see or speak to any staff, they will be there to help with any problems, should there be any.
I feel a lot more positive now.

Dear Lindsey20

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I am glad to hear that you have had good results throughout and that staff have supported you through your treatment and emotional journey. I have passed your response to Cancer Services and Amy Barrow from the Breast Care Team has asked me to relay the following:

‘On behalf of the Breast Care team at NDDH I’d just like to thank you for taking the time to give your positive feedback regarding the treatment you have had both here and at the RD&E. It is great to hear your experience of staff demonstrating ‘nothing is too much trouble’. We will make sure that all the team are aware of your positive feedback.’

Thank you again for getting in touch. We wish you well in the future.

Best wishes

Lisa
