"District Nurse Visit Overnight"

About: Inverclyde Health & Social Care Partnership Inverclyde Royal Hospital / GP Out of Hours Service NHS 24

(as a relative),

My granda has recently taken a turn for the worse and is now bed ridden and end of life care. Last night he was choking and making strange noises with his breathing. Called NHS24 who sent out two nurses.

One of the nurses was lovely and I couldn’t fault her. However the other nurse seemed to have an attitude. I felt they were rude and very dismissive of anything we were saying.   I get it was the early hours of the morning but that is your job. She seemed to have left the care and compassion at the front door when she came in! When someone is dying it its traumatic for the person and the family and the last thing anyone needs in this situation is an attitude from someone who is supposed to be helping. Puts me off calling for help in the future.

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I was sorry to read about your grandfather's health, and would like to send him my best wishes.

I was pleased to read that your grandfather had such good care from one of the nurses who attended him, and was sorry to read of your experience with the other nurse. The nurses who attended your grandfather would have come from his local territorial health board. It would be helpful if you would provide me with further details about your grandfather in order that I can ensure that any feedback you have regarding the nurses is passed to the correct team.
