I was in ward 27 for 5 long weeks with a blood pressure problem and was generally unwell. It was during lockdown so I had no visitors for the first four weeks.
I was extremely well looked after by every single staff member I had the pleasure to meet under very difficult circumstances. I would never have got through this without their kindness, from Karen the domestic who very kindly brought me in some surprise chocolate, to Jodi the student nurse who popped in to fix my pillows to try and make me more comfortable.
Every single one (I wish I could name you all) of them including the Drs, nurses (all shifts), porters, I would love to name you all but I hope you all know how much I appreciated all you did for me.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to every single one of the students who came into work early during COVID-19 I am so proud of you all you are simply a credit to the NHS and I will never forget the way I was treated with dignity, compassion, patience and kindness from every single person in ward 27 who looked after me.
Even when I passed out in the shower you covered me up, maintained my dignity by covering me up, such kindness always came naturally to you all. I have been in hospital before but never ever have I been treated with such kindness and empathy.
I’m still unwell but happy to be home with my lovely hubby who is looking after me, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you are and all you do, I am proud of you all!
Keep up the good work, I saw first hand how horrible you get treated by some extremely disrespectful patients, just keep rising above it. I take my hat off to you all and remember it’s those little things that mean a lot. I hope you are all truly proud of the people you are because you ALL truly should be!
"Thank you for your kindness, empathy and care"
