"Manners and consideration"

About: Ilkeston Community Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

I arrived with my daughter (who had been assaulted) the person who was on the door due to Covid restrictions told me I could not go in with her, which I accepted. However the curt way it was put across was not how I expect to be treated. My daughter went in and I began to walk outside when the staff member shouted not to "hang around by the doors". No please or anything. Another patient walking out said "they could do with a training course on customer service".

While my daughter was waiting to be seen she heard other people being talked to abruptly. NHS you let yourself down, this person is the first contact people have so should have manners and consideration.

We are very sorry if you felt that the MIU staff were rude when you attended with your daughter.

Unfortunately patients do need to attend the unit alone currently due to covid and to ensure social distancing wherever possible, however we are sorry if you felt that this was communicated to you in an abrupt manner.

We have shared your concerns with all staff to make them aware.
