I was a patient on ward E16 at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after having a heart attack. I was most pleased with the speed with which my problem was diagnosed, and my operation was carried out successfully 10 days after my initial attack. The ward was a 6 bedded bay and one lady spoke loudly most of the night in conversation to an imaginary person. Hardly any sleep was had by the other 5 patients there. Since sleep is regarded as part of the recovery program, I think the lady should have been placed in a solitary room.
