My son was admitted in February following a lump on his back, he later developed a “meningitis” type rash across the entirety of his body. This was all witnessed by a consultant as the hours went on. One doctor who never even saw my son referred us to social services under a section 47. My son did not fit the criteria for this referral. We still have no idea why this was accepted given the circumstances.
We were on the ward for a week.
I was not allowed food, I had to provide my own, despite not having much money at the time. 12 lots of blood tests ( they told us all was normal, we found out last week his infection markers were NINE times higher than they should of been. At no point was he offered any treatment. After a week they still had no idea what was going on and refused to refer us to a specialist hospital. He has swelling, bruising, bleeding under the skin, high temp, cough, etc. My parents had been on holiday a few weeks prior. We requested covid testing and this was ignored. They diagnosed him with HSP (in my opinion he did not fit any criteria for this diagnosis.) We have now found Out he has Chronic utecaria. This has taken nearly 6 months for this diagnosis. It’s more complex but trying to keep it brief.
The only thing they cared about was the section 47 and not my child’s medical needs. We were proved innocent but the way we were treated was awful. Staff made us feel like bad parents, patronising and rude.
They left his cot side down and he fell out of his cot, I had to change all of his bedding and mine. We had to provide all of his special formula and medication.
I wouldn’t send my children here again unless it was life or death. And even then I would be very worried. It was terrible.
"My son, discrimination, bullying"
