"Dads care"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My dad has been trying to stop smoking, attended the chemist to start the stop smoking program was given patches and told to return a week later for review.

He returned to the chemist today with burn like blisters over his leg and arms (anywhere he had put the patches) one was so bad he was advised to attend Accident and Emergency.

My dad was seen by a pleasant receptionist and was sent to minors. Michelle was lovely with my dad, making him laugh and chatting away taking his mind off what was actually happening. Michelle reassured my dad and gave us a supply of dressings etc so they can be changed at home. She advised my dad to re-attend if they got worse or if he was concerned. Knowing he could go back if this was the case meant alot to my dad. He doesn't like attending doctors or hospitals as he feels he's wasting valuable staff time. But is grateful to Michelle for her care and compassion and humour!

Dear Louw84,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your Dads experience of visiting the ED. The reception staff and Michelle will be delighted to read your kind words and I will ensure this is forwarded onto them.

I hoe that you are feeling better and recovering well.

Best wishes

Andy
