In early June I saw Dr.Thomson at Strathgryffe surgery in Bridge of Weir who examined a spot/lump on my left cheek. He photographed this spot and sent the photo to the dermatology department as above. A few days later I missed a call from the Queen Elizabeth hospital and the following week I received a letter from the RAH inviting me in to have the lump examined.
I saw Dr.Inge Kreuser-Genis who examined the spot and conducted further examinations of other areas to satisfy herself ( and me !!) that there were no other factors to be considered. She was efficient, helpful and caring. Before I left the hospital I was given an appointment to have the spot removed a short time later
At my appointment the spot was removed by a doctor - name not noted - who was equally caring and efficient and ably assisted by a nurse. They were excellent and I cannot speak highly enough of them.
I received a letter yesterday to the effect that the spot was not a carcinoma but simply en effect of sun damage and explaining that the spot had been completely removed, no further treatment was required and no callback. Again signed by Dr.Kreuser -Genis.
I have to say that this treatment was superb, could not have been bettered by a private hospital and took place incredibly quickly from the initial doctor's appointment to the results letter - some six weeks. My GP was excellent - reassuring and professional - and the follow up by the doctors at the RAH was nothing short of incredible both in their caring attitudes, their abilities and the end result. The scar is now virtually invisible and I was able to shave within two weeks of the treatment.
