Went in for my 12 week ultrasound scan last month. When the combined scan and blood test results showed a higher risk for Down’s syndrome than normal I was immediately taken to a side room and given the chance to call my husband in (he was not with me due to COVID) before we discussed next steps. About three different people talked us clearly through the issue, as well as the risks and options we had open to us. We went for a CVS test and had it carried out within a couple of hours, the doctor was great and results were given to us within the next couple of days. I’ve been on pregnancy apps and people have had to wait weeks for those results in the US, despite the extortionate prices they’re paying for healthcare. We were also offered food and drink even though we were only there for a few hours, and everyone was lovely. Really reassuring experience for a first time mum.
