"Collapsed alone at home"

About: Croydon Health Services NHS Trust Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency Parkside Group Practice

(as the patient),

I collapsed at home early one Sunday at the beginning of July, broke out in a sweat and then chills, massive headache and not much recollection of what happened. I managed to contact my daughter , who rang 111 and after two phone calls an ambulance arrived within five minutes and I was taken off to A&E in Croydon University Hospital.

My experience was excellent from the first calls to finally saying Goodbye at 10 pm at night. Should add no food or water were offered and by then I had been without for over eight hours or longer. During that time I was put on a drip, had loads of tests and generally looked after so well. Everyone without exception was so kind and caring. I felt safe.

I was told to report to my surgery Parkside, during the week and also told that I must isolate until the covid test result came through. This  I duly did and I presented myself at the practice for the requested blood test only to find they knew nothing of my admittance to A&E or what they found.

I had been told that my sodium levels were very low, but the A&E doctors did not want to alter my medication anymore and in fact referred me back to my surgery.

I found it strange that there was no communication in the ten days that had elapsed. I am a fairly "with it "86 year old retired nhs worker and don't worry unnecessarily.

Could you please clarify this for me.

I wonder how many older folk are left in the same position. I was not given a letter or any paperwork to present to my doctor.

Is communication by email only and should not the practice have had some notification after ten days?
