"Post "fall" admission"

About: Southmead Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a carer),

I am shielding, my elderly parent has a comprehensive care package. Second admission in two days, this time with no call during the lifting process or the entire following 12 hrs.

When I chased up I received no apology for the failure to call me, no information except that an x-ray was being done (of what? why? ) and that he should be in residential care and the work being done by his excellent social worker is irrelevant now he's in hospital where "he wouldn't have a social worker til he's fit for discharge".

Looking at my timeline on this site the theme is there. No lessons learned in my experience. My sole consolation is that he is "happy". I choose to believe that. I am nevertheless distraught.

Update posted by Candy56 (a carer)

Good morning Sue. Your colleague responded to a phone call and I have spoken to senior ward staff. Thanks. I do hope that the excellent responsiveness of PALS and senior ward staff reaches into the background of hard pressed staff and old cultures.
