I am writing this on behalf of my brother.
My 56 year old brother has a large protruding lump on his chest and associated pain. He has attended his phenomenal GP continually for months who couldn't have done more, he arranged X-ray after X-ray and referred him to University Hospital Hairmyres
He was seen by a consultant who reviewed his X-rays and stated no need for CT. At least 3 times if not more he specifically asked for a CT Scan. He was refused, told there was no need. A large visible lump which was totally dismissed for 7 MONTHS!!
The lump continued to grow and the pain continued to get worse. To the point McMillian nurses had to attend for pain management.
After another trip to A&E due to his uncontrolled pain he was admitted to respiratory ward and a CT was urgently done.
My 56 year old brother has now been diagnosed with terminal Cancer. We as a family are devastated and have no doubt he has been failed in his care.
"No need for CT, failure in care"
