"He often said how well he was looked after"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 3 North Ward

(as a service user),

My husband was in Craigavon Hospital, 3 North Medical, for 5 weeks during Covid Pandemic.

For the first two weeks I was unable to visit due to restrictions, but the nursing staff gave him the phone in the ward each morning, and sometimes the evening, so we could keep in contact.

He often said how well he was looked after by all of the staff.

When I was then allowed to visit, because he had become so ill, the staff were always more than accommodating to us.

It was a comfort to me and my children that Jemma and Elizabeth were with my husband when he passed away and he did not die alone.

Dear monocerosym47 – I am Patient Client Facilitator for the Trust and would like firstly to express my sympathy to you and your family on the death of your husband.

During recent times we recognise the visiting restrictions have been very difficult for patients and their families, however I am pleased that the ward staff were initially able to facilitate conversations with your husband and also that you and your family were then able to visit. It will be a comfort to you in the days and weeks ahead to know that your family were with your husband when he passed away.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience and I can assure you that I will share your feedback with the staff in Ward 3 North.
