This is a very belated review as I had surgery (hysterectomy) at the end of May 2019. However I want to leave feedback as I hope it will help other ladies who are perhaps a little nervous at the prospect of having an operation – or like me, terrified!
I cannot speak more highly about my experiences. From the initial consultation at the beginning of May to the surgery four weeks later, I was treated with skill and professionalism but also with great kindness and patience.
Although I’d hoped to be a single room on Ward 6, I was in Ward 8 with three other ladies (our combined age was 300! ). It was a stroke of luck as the other ladies were great company and helped me when I became ill and needed to alert a member of staff.
The operation went smoothly and I recovered well although it’s worth saying that it took a little longer than I had anticipated to feel ‘normal’ again. This was due to my own unrealistic expectations.
So thank you everyone in particular Dr Kearney, Dr Morrison and Dr Barlow, nurses Donna, Kirsty, Sharon, Audrey, Catherine, Suzy, Kate and Karen, the young male doctors who brightened up the ward, the anaesthetists and the domestic staff who got to know my beverage of choice and left it for me even when I was in the shower when they came round.
I have been thinking of you all over the last few months which I am sure have been very difficult. Please know that I am extremely grateful to you.
"Excellent care"
